چکیده

Histidine is a dietary essential amino acid because it cannot be produced in the body of living beings and must be supplied from external sources. Histidine plays an essential role in the synthesis of proteins and is produced via protein hydrolysis. Moreover, L-histidine, or its modifications, was recently reported as a catalyst for the organic reaction. L-threonine, as one of the three primary amino acids, produced worldwide, has gained tremendous attention in various fields such as industry, as an additive, or as a precursor for the biosynthesis of other chemicals. Organocatalysis holds much promise for the green synthesis of organic compounds with potential interesting medicinal or material properties. Most current organocatalysts are derived from naturally occurring amino acids, which are decorated on a support material to facilitate the separation of the product from the catalyst, and thus the recovery. This chapter summarized recent advances in organic reactions with the aim of L-histidine and L-threonine.
